Counselling service

Sometimes we experience challenges in life that affect our sense of wellness and ability to live life to the fullest.

Talking with a professionally trained counsellor can help you make sense of your experience in a safe and supportive space.

Counselling can bring new perspectives to your thinking and support you with any changes you may find helpful.

Counselling can also provide a space just to share how you are feeling.

Counselling can be useful for those seeking support with:

  • Mental health distress such as depression or anxiety
  •  Problematic relationships
  •  Life transitions
  •  Post traumatic stress
  •  Childhood trauma / sexual abuse
  •  Self esteem
  •  Unplanned pregnancy

A variety of therapies can be drawn upon to support you through your individual experience. There is no “expert” in the counselling relationship, as you are the expert of your life!

Unplanned Pregnancy Counselling

Unplanned pregnancies CAN and DO happen. This service is provided free, and can be accessed by any person (woman, partner or family member) directly affected by an unplanned pregnancy.

Post-termination counselling, as well as counselling when a woman is continuing with an unplanned pregnancy, are included in this service. Contact the centre for an appointment. You may remain anonymous if you choose.

Service is free and delivered by Department of Health Grants.

Perinatal & Infant Mental Health Counselling

Pregnancy, birth and becoming a parent can bring many emotional changes. You may feel excited and happy, but you may also experience worry, stress, low mood, anxiety or feel overwhelmed.

Our Perinatal & Infant Mental Health Counselling Service provides a safe, confidential and supportive space for women, parents and families to talk about their emotional wellbeing during pregnancy and after having a baby.

We can support you with concerns such as anxiety and depression, difficult or traumatic birth experiences, pregnancy or infant loss, adjusting to parenthood, parenting challenges, relationship changes, bonding with your baby, and feelings of loneliness or being overwhelmed.

Our service fee is $100 but it can be waived based on individual circumstances.

You don't have to wait until things become overwhelming to ask for help. We're here to listen, support you and help you access further care when needed.

Counselling is completely confidential.

Please contact (08) 9021 8266 or cso@gwhcc.org.au to make a booking.
