The Goldfields Women's Health Care Centre offers a diverse range of women's health services, including counselling and running clinics on a number of different issues women face in today's world. The Centre prides itself on offering these quality services to all women living locally, giving them access to health information and services tailored specifically for women.

Christmas/New Year Closure

The Museum of the Goldfields and the Goldfields Women's Health Care Centre invite you to the opening event of the Red Shoes Project Installation beneath the Museum's iconic head frame as part of the launch of 16 Days In WA Campaign - for the elimination of violence against women.

This powerful installation has been created with shoes donated by the community and painted red through a series of workshops across the Goldfields. Each pair of painted shoes, placed one body length apart, will represent the life of a woman murdered in Australia by a current or former partner.


The Museum and the GWHCC have been working with Dr Paola Magni-Partridge, the Australian Ambassador for the Red Shoes Project https://www.redshoesaustralia.com.au/ to bring the project to the Goldfields, the first held regionally of its kind and will be one of the guest speakers.


The Red Shoes project was started by architect and visual artist Elina Chauvet, born in Casa Grandes Chihuahua - one of the most dangerous cities in Mexico. She first put together Los Zaptos Rojos Instalacion de Arte Publico in Ciudad Juarez in 2009 with 33 pairs of shoes donated by the community when her 32-year-old sister was murdered by her husband.

Well Women's Clinic

Do I need a Cervical Screening Test?
If you:
• Are a woman or person with a cervix
• Are aged between 25-74 and
• Have ever had any type of sexual contact (with any person, incl those of the same sex or gender)
• You should have a CST every 5 years until the age of 75

Our visiting doctor, Dr Jenny Sudbury, will be available for CERVICAL SCREENING TESTS at the centre on Thursday 3rd August and Friday 4th August.

The Goldfields Women's Health Care Centre have teamed up with Women's Legal Service WA to provide a FREE legal clinic for women in the Goldfields community.

The Women's Legal Service WA can provide you with legal advice in the following areas:

Family Law - parenting matters & divorce
Family Violence Restraining Orders
Criminal Injuries Compensation

Hello Goldfields, my name is Kate Yates I am the new Regional Carers Coordinator, I will be supporting our Goldfields carers navigate The Carer Gateway. Carer Gateway is an Australian Government program providing free services and support for carers.

Are you a carer? If you care for a family member or friend with a disability, a medical condition, mental illness, or who is frail due to age, then you are a Carer. Please fell free to make an appt and we can talk about your caring role.

I am passionate and motivated about client advocacy. I have worked in health for 23 years; my nursing career guided me to Aged care where my basic foundations and skill base began. Moving to Kalgoorlie & working at the hospital opened my eyes to culture & diversity. This experience and exposure to the grand Goldfields has enriched my understanding and scope of what it is like to live in the Goldfields. After 8 years at the hospital, I took a left turn into complimentary health, studying an Advanced Diploma in Kinesiology and became Yoga teacher.

When I’m not at working you will find me with my Horse Mr DJ, we are currently working together to learn dressage. You will see me practising yoga Yoga 202 of course. I love learning so I’ll always be completing whatever course my little heart desires.I’m a 2-dog owner, I love coffee - I enjoy sitting quietly and enjoying the smell, the taste, yum!! Ill do anything for a good coffee hint, hint, wink, wink & I love a great podcast recommendation or a great audiobook,

The things I love most in life are music. I believe life should be a musical, great food as long as I’m not cooking and good hearty laughs. All three of these in one day is my ideal day.

Sexual violence is , serious and an abuse of human rights.

If you or someone you or someone you know  has been raped or sexually assaulted, you should go somewhere you feel safe, if you can. This might be a police station, hospital or the home of a close friend or family member.

Financial assistance is now available for breast cancer patients (or those with long-term illness or disability relating to breast cancer)
in the Goldfields region, and can be claimed for:

• Transport, accommodation and associated expenses for patients undergoing medical treatment away from the Goldfields region
• Quality of life equipment
• Home visits and services
